Plaster work in Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire spans the Cotswold uplands, the Severn Vale and the Forest of Dean, a breadth of landscape that is reflected in its buildings. From medieval timber-framing in the west to Regency stucco in Cheltenham and industrial mills in Stroud, the county's historic fabric demands a practice comfortable with many traditions.

Buildings we work with

Timber-framed medieval houses, Cotswold stone cottages, Regency terraces, Victorian villas, former industrial mills and ecclesiastical buildings. A high proportion are listed, and conservation area controls apply across most historic town centres.

Materials and approach

Lime plaster and lime render remain the correct specification for solid-walled and timber-framed buildings across the county. Where decorative plaster work survives, conservation and like-for-like repair using traditional binders and aggregates is the appropriate response.
