Plaster work in Stroud
Stroud and its valleys hold one of the most significant concentrations of Georgian and Victorian industrial buildings in the South West. The former mills, warehouses and administrative buildings of the woollen industry contain decorative plaster work of surprising ambition, and their conservation requires both an understanding of industrial heritage and the craft skills to reinstate damaged ornament.

Buildings we work with
Former textile mills, mill owners' houses, Georgian administration buildings, workers' cottages and canal-side warehouses. Many are listed and sit within the Stroud Valleys Conservation Area.
Materials and approach
Historic mill interiors often retain run cornices, cast enrichments and ceiling mouldings in fibrous plaster. Where water ingress has caused loss, surviving fragments can be used to take moulds and run replacement profiles, allowing the original character of the room to be reinstated without conjecture.
